An Introduction to Boat Building

This micro-credential introduces school leavers and new people to the industry to boat building, providing learners the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in the marine or composites industry and go onto full boat building apprenticeships.


An Introduction to Boat Building includes practical and theory in :

  • Use and care of hand tools

  • Use and care of power tools and mechanical plant

  • Apply health and safety to a marine environment

  • Learn about boat building methods for timber, alloy and composites

  • Learn to work in a team

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Legal eligibility to study in NZ Residents and Citizens only. Minimum of 16 years of age. English language requirements.

COURSE FEES

Total Programme Fee (2025) 


Campus-based  - $1,295 + GST. Campus-based fees confirmed upon acceptance into Programme. Subject to change.


Work-based - $600 + GST


Includes all workshops, learning resources and assessment.
