NZ Apprenticeship in Industrial Textile Fabrication and Trimming
This apprenticeship is your pathway to becoming a qualified tradesperson in the industrial textile industries – gaining recognition for your skills while building advanced capability on the job.
The programme combines two nationally-recognised qualifications (Levels 3 and 4), delivered through structured workplace training, guided support and flexible online learning.
Within the apprenticeship you can choose between the two specialised strands to focus your training on specific areas of fabrication or trimming, allowing you to develop expertise in the sector that best matches your work and career interests.
You’ll continue to earn while you learn – gaining credits for the work you already do and building toward full trade certification.
Level 3 – Strengthen Your Foundations
Formalise your practical skills and develop core competencies in workplace safety, material preparation, and basic fabrication or trimming techniques. This foundation sets you up for confident, consistent work across a range of products and environments.
Level 4 – Advance Your Expertise
Take your skills to the next level with complex and custom projects. This stage of training develops your abilities in advanced production techniques, project management, and planning. You’ll build specialist knowledge in pattern development, precision fabrication or trimming, and large-scale assembly. With strand options tailored to your workplace focus, you’ll gain transferable skills that apply across a wide range of industrial sectors — and the confidence to tackle challenging, technical projects independently.
