Backing the Workplace Trainer

At MAST, we know the most powerful learning for any apprentice happens on the job, alongside experienced people who are willing to share their knowledge. Sometimes that’s a supervisor, the company owner, or simply a skilled colleague who takes the time to teach. Whoever they are, workplace trainers play one of the most important roles in our industry.

To support workplace trainers, we have developed the MAST Workplace Trainer Certificate – an online course that takes less than an hour to complete. It provides practical tools to strengthen coaching and mentoring skills to help apprentices progress and successfully complete their training.

The course covers the value of a strong training culture, the three stages of training, supporting learners who need additional support and verifying learner assessments.

Beyond the course, MAST continues to support workplace trainers through upskilling workshops and ongoing guidance from our Training Advisors, keeping trainers connected with apprentice training plans and progress to help apprentices continue through their training journey.

The workshops are also a great opportunity to connect with other industry trainers, hear from guest speakers, share ideas and be part of a growing network committed to developing people and skills in our industry.

“I’ve seen time and again how much a difference it makes when an apprentice has someone willing to stop, answer the tricky questions and help make sure the learning sticks.”

– JOE DAW, MAST TRAINING MANAGER
